This is the first of hopefully many blog postings that I will be doing. Most subject matter will be regarding the world of politics and government. However, there may be times that a blog may be about something totally unrelated to those subject matters. This is a good time to start this type of endeavor. The world of politics has not seen the kind of upheaval that is currently going on in many, many years.
Those of us that make a living in politics are used to looking at the past to predict future events. This year, that is something we cannot do. No one could have predicted a year ago that Donald Trump would be the Republican presidential nominee. Also, no one would have predicted a year ago that Hillary Clinton would have struggled in the Democrat primary against a socialist senator from an obscure state named Bernie Sanders.
Politics is changing here in the United States as well as around the world. The recent vote in the United Kingdom to leave the European Union was a sign that the same kind of political forces in play here, in the United States this year, are also occurring overseas.
The US electorate seems very restless and frustrated. Many individuals still have not recovered from the Great Recession of 2008. The US is getting attacked more and more frequently by Islamic extremists with no plan in sight from our government to do something to stop them. People are afraid on many different levels. This fear is being expressed in the way voters are voting this year.
I believe that we will continue to have many more political twists and turns before we hit Election Day on November 8 th . These blog postings will try to explain the twisting and turning road that we are going down. Hold on tight, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
